Resumen
Se presentan dos trepanaciones, una de época prehistórica y otra de época histórica, que caracterizan dos tiempos muy alejados y cuyas motivaciones deben ser bien diferentes entre la incertidumbre de las que se practicaron durante la prehistoria y la posible justificación terapéutica de época histórica a partir de la propuesta de Hipócrates de Cos.
La primera procede de un enterramiento neolítico de la cueva de Fuente Hoz y la segunda, de la necrópolis medieval de Armentia, ambas en la provincia de Álava. Hasta cierto punto, ambas pueden caracterizar el tipo de trepanaciones que podemos encontrar en esos períodos.

Abstract
We present two cases of trepanations, one from the prehistoric period and the other from the historical period, which date from two very distant ages. The reasons for the trepanations may be quite different considering the uncertainty of trepanations practiced during the prehistoric period and the possible therapeutic rationale based in the hypothesis of Hippocrates of Cos during the historical period.
The first trepanation comes from a Neolithic burial site from the Fuente Hoz cave and the second trepanation from the medieval necropolis of Armentia, both located in the province of Álava. To a certain extent, each may characterize the type of trepanation that can be found in those time periods.
